South of the river just off London Bridge, Borough Market is an experience for the senses with stalls full of fresh produce, selling food and drink from cheeses to meat, fresh fish and squeezed juices, breads, cakes and vegetables; sight, smell and taste are sure to be satisfied here!

The market is only open Thursdays to Saturdays – I’ve been a couple of times now and the atmosphere on its own is great to soak up, bustling with customers, tourists and stall traders. It’s fantastic to taste and pick up some of the wonderful food on offer, even if only to grab a pain au chocolat and coffee whilst enjoying what is on offer and wandering through the quirky twists and turns of the market, which is set beneath the railway viaducts:

Stave Hill in Canada Water provided the perfect place to enjoy a view of London’s NYE fireworks display and avoid the crowds:

Located approximately 10 minutes walk from Canada Water station, Stave Hill offers a peaceful space where panoramic views across the city and its many landmarks may be enjoyed away from the usual hustle and bustle of central. The view on offer includes the impressive Shard skyscraper as seen in the photo above, Canary Wharf, the Gherkin, London Bridge and the London Eye. The sight is just as remarkable at night as it is in the day should you wish to enjoy the city lights.
